Trail of the Phoenix The sounds, smells and textures of the forest can be found at the Trail of the Phoenix, also called the Exploration Trail, at the entrance of the National Children’s Forest in San Bernandino, California. This nature trail is designed to accommodate the visually and physically disabled with paved pathways and Braille interpretive signs along a loop trail. Species along the trail have adapted unique survival skills to combat harsh conditions, such as fire-adapted shrubs and the tallest pine species in the world.
