Historic statues are accessible to the visually impaired at the Lightner Museum garden in St. Augustine, Florida as part of the TOUCH St. Augustine Braille Trail. TOUCH is an acronym for Tactile Orientation for Understanding Creativity and History. This unique multi-sensory trail features Braille plaques which describe the history of the statues and include “tactile graphics,” which act as a visual map to help the visually impaired understand how the statues look through detailed descriptions and a raised pictorial representation of each statue.
